  • Nanny / Housekeeper
  • Maternity Nanny
  • Live-in Nanny
  • Live-out Nanny
  • Shared Nanny
  • Plus Part-time Nanny

Full Time Nanny

Full-time nannies are usually experienced and qualified childcare professionals whose main responsibility is caring for the children. This includes their physical and general wellbeing, organising fun and educational activities and supporting their all-round development.

They will also do cooking, light cleaning and laundry, but only for the children.

Nanny / Housekeeper

In addition to caring for your children, nanny/housekeepers will also take care of non-childcare specific duties such as cooking, cleaning and laundry for the entire family.

Usually nanny/housekeepers time is split fifty-fifty between childcare and other domestic duties.

Maternity Nanny

Maternity nannies are experienced nannies who work with babies and younger children, generally up to toddler age. They aren’t necessarily qualified, but they do need to have lots of hands-on experience with babies. Maternity nannies are focused on the mum and baby and will only take care of child-related domestic duties.

Maternity nannies typically start when the baby is around 3 months.

Live-in Nanny

Live-in nannies, do just that, they live in the client’s home, or in alternative accommodation that is provided and paid for by the client. If you are living in the family home, remember you will also be sharing the family’s communal space.

Ideally live-in nannies will have their own bedroom and private bathroom.

Even better is if the family can offer a separate floor, or even a separate entrance. This will make the job will be much more attractive as there are boundaries and personal space.

Live-Out Nanny

Very much a nanny position with a commute. An ideal arrangement for families and nannies who require privacy outside working hours.

The only downside to not living in is the potential of having to make last minute arrangements for childcare which means the position is less flexible.

Shared Nanny

A shared nanny is a situation where two families engage the services of a single nanny to care for their children. This can be a cost saving arrangement and a fine line has to be trod if the two families have different philosophies about child-rearing such as screen time and homework for example. The upside is the children do have a readymade playmate.

Part-Time Nanny Positions

With many parents now working from home, the part-time nanny position is here to stay. Part-time roles come in many forms, it may be a weekend nanny position or during the working week and can even be a pick up from school, cook and mind until a parent is home.
